At Prolase Laser Clinic, patient care is #1. That’s why we provide a complimentary Good Faith Examination (GFE) to ensure candidacy for treatment, and to ensure that each patient’s medical needs are met.

The GFE is always scheduled if you’re a new patient or have had a change in your medical record. It includes a series of medical questions that you can easily answer. You will be asked these questions by a licensed doctor, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner. You are considered a candidate for treatment if you are “GFE cleared”.

At Prolase Laser Clinic, we use the Syneron-Candela GentleMAX Pro – the leading machine in the industry known to permanently reduce and eliminate the growth of hair. We regularly calibrate and maintain our machines to ensure the lasers are precise.

We sell 10 grams of numbing cream for $20 and 30 grams for $30. The ointment is available only for our patients. You should apply a thin layer 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment.

Tip: Many patients find it helpful to use plastic wrap to cover the area – especially if you will be putting your clothes back on. Prolase will often provide plastic wrap as a courtesy. Please ask our staff for assistance. We also ask patients to arrive early if you know you will need extra time to apply numbing cream.

For optimal results, we ask that you do a clean shave of the area being treated the night before your scheduled appointment.

Laser hair removal is effective when the laser targets the root of hair. If hair is present, the laser cannot properly penetrate your skin to get to the root. Having visible hair can even cause discomfort during the treatment.

For best results, you may be instructed NOT to shave your facial hair before your treatment so that the nurse can properly evaluate the growth pattern and thickness of the hairs to be treated.

  1. Expect your nurse to confirm medical questions with you to ensure that you are cleared for treatment.
  2. Expect your nurse to draw guidelines on your body using a white cosmetic pencil. These lines are temporary and can be easily wiped away with soap and water.
  3. Please let your nurse know if you are uncomfortable at anytime during the treatment.
  4. Expect your nurse to recommend an optimal time-frame for you to return to your next treatment session.
  1. Please follow the After Care Instructions and any advice given by your nurse.
  2. After receiving your first laser hair removal treatment, you may experience tiny hairs starting to push its way through the skin. This is a natural process of the hair since the follicles are no longer there to hold the root in place. Although tempting, DO NOT pick or tweeze the hairs. Just allow the hairs to fall off on its own. It’s OK to shave if needed.
  3. You may shower as normal, but please avoid very hot water, steam rooms, saunas, and hot baths for the first 3-4 days.
  4. Use a  loofah with body soap to gently cleanse the treated area.
  5. Be sure to follow-up with your scheduled appointment on time for best results.

Our patients typically need 6-8 treatments for best results. Treatments are usually scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. However, based on several factors such as age, gender, skin type, and tolerance level, each patient will experience different results at different time intervals.

There are three stages of hair growth phases. Each strand of hair on the human body is at its own stage of development. Once the cycle is complete, it will start again. In addition, there is a dormant phase where hair remains “asleep” for 1-4 months before starting to emerge. That means, at around your third session, it is very common to experience an influx of hair growth. This is an added reason why patients are encouraged to follow-through with each appointment and plan for a minimum of 6 sessions for best results.

If you’re not able to shave your back prior to treatment, you should let the receptionist know at the time you make the appointment. You will be asked to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your treatment so that a nurse can shave for you. We charge you 20% of the cost of the treatment area(s) that you planned to have us shave for you.

For best results, we ask that you wait a minimum of 2 weeks and until you can see the hair to grow back. Laser is effective when the root of the hair follicle is in tact.

For your safety, we ask that you wait minimum of 2-3 weeks and until your tan goes away to help reduce the chances of complications (e.g. spotting) during treatment.
